The Story of Buta
and
Time

Buta was a very strange man, he
did not know how to dance with time. Time would dance around in circles, do
spirals and all sorts of fantastic geometry's. Buta the foolish fellow, would
stand in one place and watch. Now, I don't want to give the impression that
to dance with Time is an easy matter. Gentle as Time may be one can never follow
her every step. The people in the Village lived with Time as one would live
with any neighbor. Time was as real to them as a tree, they had no past or future
in their thought. It was always now as they moved and danced with time. Any
act was performed because Time was right, she was very definite about things.
Buta could not feel the music,
for some unknown reason it was not part of him and thus he could not dance.
Buta would spend hours and watch, trying to figure where Time was going to be
from where Time had been. In one grand moment, in his total confusion, Buta
invented the past and the future. The now was gone and so was Buta.
